Are we still only in week 1?
The first week is always the toughest as we acclimatize to the festival. Early starts for everyone with most of our venues hosting amazing acts all through the day, night and well into the morning again.
The Mash House and La Belle are opening their doors to the talents picked by Just the Tonic this year. The first act to receive a glowing review this year was Luca Cupani: Lives I Never Lived – you should check out his show, on every day in The Mash House at 15:55. Whistle Binkies, The Globe, Opium & Subway are hosting the PBH Free Fringe crew. This amazing Free Fringe extravaganza lets you pay what you like. Top picks to follow…
It’s not just the early morning that makes it a struggle. Getting used to the extended hours is brutal! All the late night venues are open until 5am all the way through to Monday 26th August. Take a second to think about all those poor wee bar staff… now think about the cleaners that have just 4 hours to get round 12 venues and make them spotless so they can open up and do it all again! They deserve medals – each and every one of them!
OK- lets put our tiny violins away and after laughing ourselves silly across the lot – lets head on over to the Roller Discotheque tonight in La Belle!
